The 12-Month Preparedness Checklist
This is the checklist I'm using for my own family. Build it in stages. Each stage stands on its own, so start with Stage 1 and keep going at the pace that feels right for your home. Check things off as you go (your progress saves on this device), then download the PDF to take shopping.
Quick math, per person
- Water: 1 gallon a day. That's 14 gallons for two weeks and 30 for a month.
- Food for a year: a common guideline is about 300 lb of grains and 60 lb of beans and legumes per adult.
- Seeds: stored cool, dark and dry, most stay strong for 2 to 5 years. Label and date everything.
General preparedness information for your own planning, not professional, medical or legal advice. Follow manufacturer safety instructions, run generators and grills outdoors only, and check your local laws, lease or HOA rules for fuel storage, rain barrels, hunting, fishing and firearms.
